There are plenty of sporting opportunities in Blacktown

Boasting a wide variety of sporting activities and events, alongside world class facilities, there is no doubt about it, Blacktown City is the place to be for all your sporting needs.

Health and wellbeing are high on the agenda and casual sporting activities are encouraged. Try bush-walking or bike riding. Some of the most beautiful parks and reserves are found within Blacktown City and offer great walking and riding tracks. Free to use fitness stations have been installed in several parks across the City to encourage people to get fit. Contact Blacktown City Council for a list of parks and reserves with these fitness stations.

Practice your swing and play a round golf at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club or Fox Hills Golf Club. 

There are also several swimming centres, football ovals, cricket pitches, netball and tennis courts.

Sport Associations, with clubs from just about every sport you can think of, are all found in Blacktown City – AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Cricket, Gymnastics, Hockey, Horse Riding, Netball, Oz Tag, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Touch Football, Swimming and Volleyball …that’s just for starters.

Motor Sports

Get your engines started at Sydney Motorsport Park at Eastern Creek. It is fast becoming the motor sport and speed capital of Australia. Some of Australia’s biggest motor racing events have been held here including the Supercars V8 Series. Watch the professionals in action or take part yourself – you can start with the Go-Karts at Sydney Premier Karting Raceway and move up to Drag Racing your own car at the Sydney Dragway.

Blacktown International Sportspark

Blacktown International Sportspark Sydney (BISP)

BISP is the heart of sport in Western Sydney, with almost ½ million visitors per year. Developed as a major playing and training venue for Athletics, Baseball and Softball for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the Park has continued to grow and develop, welcoming AFL, Cricket, the International Goalkeepers Academy and Soccer to the ‘family’ over the past 22 years. Owned by Blacktown City Council and managed by Blacktown Venue Management Ltd, the venue is ‘home’ to two national sporting teams - the Sydney BlueSox (Baseball) and Western Sydney Wanderers (Soccer).

Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope (BLCS)

The Wave Pool at the BLCS can generate waves up to 1.5 metres. It’s aquatic fun at it’s very best – and the waves are only part of the excitement. Try the 25m indoor pool, gym, squash court or get involved in one of the many indoor sporting competitions such as netball and soccer. Conveniently, the Dennis Johnson Library is also located here, as is a cafe to tempt your taste buds.

Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre (SGAC) at Rooty Hill

The Sydney Gymnastic and Aquatic Centre (SGAC) features a 4,000 sqm Olympic grade gymnastics facility, two 25 metre swimming pools and a sports medicine and rehabilitation centre. The specialist facilities are complemented with a central service area with members assistance, merchandise and a café with seating for 80 people. Trampoline Olympian gymnast Dominic Clarke trained at this facility.
