Blacktown City’s history ranges from the Darug, who have inhabited this land for over 60,000 years, to the residents who have arrived here in the past 230 years from many different countries.

The Blacktown City Mayoral History Prize was first awarded in 2008. The aim of the Mayoral History Prize is to encourage an interest in the rich and diverse history of Blacktown City.

We welcome entries with an indigenous focus or theme. The winner(s) will receive a cash prize and all entrants will receive a certificate of achievement. Winners and highly commended submissions will be published on Blacktown Memories.

Prizes are awarded in the following categories:
• 17 years and over
• years 7 - 9
• years 10 - 12
• entries from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
